Merel has previous work experience in Uganda and Peru, where she worked on sustainable tourism and livelihood projects. At GVK, she supports project managers with program design in addition to organizing and managing women self-help groups, conducting industry research, preparing grant and investment proposals, maintaining social media and communication channels, contributing to website design and assisting in day to day office management. During her work at GVK, Merel aims to bring about sustainable change in the existing power relations by enabling small farmers to build a cohesive platform to voice out their interests. Merel loves travelling off-the-beaten path, hiking, sports, exploring different cultures, eating good food and photography. She is passionate about contributing to create a free, fair and sustainable world. Merel has a Bachelor in Anthropology from Brunel University and a Masters in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
